Why do we teach our kids the wrong way of dealing with bullies?

Quit telling them to beat the bully up.Cause all that's gonna do is get him thrown out of school,sued and thrown in jail.I remember watching an episode of Judge Judy once and this bully's parents were on there because the defendant's son hit the bully in the face with a broom handle for pushing his sister off her bike.The bully lost some teeth due to the attack.and the Defendant's father said "He was taking a stand for his sister"and Judge Judy said "I don't believe it,but even if it was it didn't give him the right to strike him with a dangerous instrument"and then she ruled in the bully's favor.If you hit the bully you're just as cruel as he is.
