Why is the sun setting in the northwest here in stoke-on-trent?

here in staffordshire's stoke-on-trent (at 53�N) the sun has been setting in the northwest since may. you would think that being at such a north latitude, the sun would always set to the south. would appreciate some religious opinions please. don't rlly care for astronomers opinions because they are atheist liars.
