Dog stops shoplifter!?! Read the story below, and do you know any dog stories, where the dog protects?

I took my Lab walking in the woods a couple of weeks ago and usually he loves it. However this time he got very upset and uneasy. Usually when he does not want me to do something he will get infront of me or jump on me, so when started to do this I thought he wanted to go home because he was tired. So I made him go on, as we rounded the corner his behavior got worse and i started to joke with him that he was a lazt bum, but I was wrong. There were several coyotes with a animal they had killed, and were fighting over. Two of them started to stalk us and were growling. I use a crutch to walk and there was no way I was getting away quickly. My Lab is a typical fun loving Lab who loves everything including wildlife. But this time my usually timid happy go lucky dog became nasty. He got infront of me and great scary vicious and actually stood his ground to the coyotes. My instant plan was to let him go, thinking he would run home in fear and I would face the animals. But he would not have it, he was going to protect me at all cost. He was a great deal bigger than them, he is 116 lbs but there was a pack of them. I started to scream and throw things at them which only pushed them back, and my dog kept backing up as to push me back but stayed face to face with them. Well they did back down, but I learned two things LISTEN to my dog, and that he will aways protect me.
