How should i take this? (guys a little help hear)?

so me and this guy are FWB (freinds with benefits), so we have just started to fool around but he wants to take it slow...what exactly do you think he means by that? this friend of mine at some point did have a crush on me but he made it clear that he only wants to be friends so i'm cool with that because i really dont want any relationships right now.... so why is he suggesting to take things slow.......:S
